Een balletje trappen, aanmoedigingen langs de zijlijn, peptalks in de kleedkamer en de derde helft in de kantine. Clubliederen, mascottes en vaste rituelen: dit is de wereld van het amateurvoetbal. Vanaf maart 2026 bewegen we mee met trainingen en wedstrijden, trekken we tenues aan en delen we momenten van concentratie en ontspanning.
Het resort heeft kunstenaars Elen Braga, William Ludwig Lutgens en Karina Beumer gevraagd om zich onder te dompelen in deze wereld van voetbal en de vrijetijdscultuur rondom de lokale club.
Voor S09E01 zijn we te gast bij de Groningse voetbalvereniging V.V.K., een plek waar spelen en kijken, spanning en ontspanning samenkomen. De club - bestaande uit ‘vogels van diverse pluimage’, van mini’s tot veteranen, mannen en vrouwen en met meer dan 500 leden - vormt een vaste waarde in het Groningse sociale landschap en fungeert als ontmoetingsplek waar sport, spel en gemeenschap samenkomen. Binnen het jaarprogramma I <3 HOBBIES benaderen we hobby’s niet als bijzaak, maar als praktijken vol toewijding, liefde en identiteit.
De expositie met nieuw werk is vanaf vrijdag 24 april 2026 te zien bij voetbalvereniging V.V.K.

Het is de tijd voor de vrije tijd. Voor de een om naar toe te leven, voor de ander om te doden. Wanneer de klok ophoudt met tikken en je niks hoeft, wat doe je dan het allerliefste? In 2026 duikt het resort in de wereld van de hobby.
Wanneer wordt een hobby obsessie, gemeenschap, of zelfs politiek? Hoe vrij zijn de werelden die we in onze vrije tijd bouwen? Wanneer ben je amateur, en wanneer verandert een hobby in werk? Wat zegt het over ons dat we onze grootste toewijding vaak bewaren voor in onze vrije tijd?

Kicking a ball around, cheering from the sidelines, pep talks in the locker room, and the “third half” in the clubhouse. Club songs, mascots, and fixed rituals: this is the world of amateur football. From March 2026 onwards, we move along with trainings and matches, put on team kits, and share moments of focus and relaxation.
Het resort has invited artists Elen Braga, William Ludwig Lutgens and Karina Beumer to immerse themselves in this world of football and the leisure culture surrounding the local club.
For S09E01, we are guests of the Groningen based football club V.V.K., a place where playing and watching, tension and relaxation come together. The club - made up of “birds of all feathers,” from youngsters to veterans, men and women, and with over 500 members - forms a constant presence in Groningen’s social landscape and functions as a meeting place where sport, play, and community intersect. Within the annual programme I <3 HOBBIES, we approach hobbies not as a side activity, but as practices filled with dedication, love, and identity.

It’s time for leisure. For some, it’s something to look forward to; for others, it’s a way to kill time. When the clock stops ticking and you don’t have to do anything, what do you love doing most? In 2026, the resort dives into the world of hobbies.
When does a hobby become an obsession, a community, or even political? How free are the worlds we build in our free time? When are you an amateur, and when does a hobby turn into work? What does it say about us that we often reserve our greatest dedication for our free time?
