Wine tasting – once the hobby of your wealthy uncle at birthday gatherings – had by then become common practice among a broader group of consumers. The natural-wine-sipping individual suddenly seemed to be omnipresent. They appeared to know all the ins and outs of wine. Colour, aroma, and flavour were analysed while sitting on a trendy terrace. But who were these consumers? And what customs and aesthetics had developed around this culture of natural wine?

As the conclusion of the pilot program, the six participating artists - Pum van de Koppel, Ilya Lindhout, Indira de Boer, Jemin Kim, Danute Līva & Baroeg Mulder - delved into wine bar Vin Natuur in Groningen during a project week. This place became their point of departure, a stage upon which to explore how patterns of consumption intertwined with the shaping of identity. The week culminated in a one day exhibition, where the artists reimagined the event on their own terms.

The artists created works in which a wine bottle could speak, a performance around wine, bread, and poetry, and confetti floated through the space. There was an underwater (or underwine) video, a falling glass of wine, and a piece that revealed the past, present, and future.
