NIEUWE CO–DIRECTEUR: DAPHNE VERBERG

Per 1 september zal Daphne Verberg starten als co-directeur van het resort.

We zijn erg blij met deze toevoeging aan het team. Haar open en verbindende karakter sluit goed aan bij onze werkwijze. Ze heeft veel kennis en ervaring in het cureren en produceren van complexe (site-specific) projecten, zoals Rijksbouwmeester x Nest in het DICTU-gebouw (dienst ICT-uitvoering) in Den Haag. Ze zal zich gaan focussen op community en professionalisering. We kijken uit naar haar scherpe blik op de organisatie en programma.

 

Daphne Verberg en Ellen de Haan trekken vanaf september samen op als het co-directeurs. Daphne volgt Karina Bakx op die samen met Ellen het resort oprichtte in 2018.

 

Daphne: "Het is voor mij een droom om leiding te geven aan een organisatie die zowel kunstenaars als kunstpubliek bedient en verbindt. Door het organiseren van residenties slaagt het resort er in om kunstenaars en medemogelijkmakers in staat te stellen om ambitieuze en verassende projecten te realiseren op uiteenlopende locaties. Ik kijk ernaar uit om hier mede richting aan te geven. Het versterken van de positie van (startende) kunstenaars en werkenden in de kunstwereld zie ik als een taak voor de gehele sector en het lijkt mij een mooie opdracht om hier bij het resort mee aan de slag te gaan. Ik kijk ernaar uit om samen met Ellen na te denken over de vervolgstappen voor een organisatie die volop in ontwikkeling is."

 

Daphne Verberg (1993) is opgeleid als kunsteducator aan ArtEZ en heeft een Master Art History: Curatorial Studies behaald aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. De afgelopen 5 jaar produceerde zij het veelzijdige programma van Nest in Den Haag. Daarnaast heeft zij voor verschillende organisaties en instellingen gewerkt, waaronder het Fries Museum, het Mondriaan Fonds, de Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten en CBK Groningen (nu Kunstpunt). Verberg woont in Den Haag en werkt als freelance curator en producent.

We are very happy with this addition to the team. Her open and engaging character fits well with our approach. She has a lot of knowledge and experience in curating and producing complex (site-specific) projects, such as Rijksbouwmeester x Nest in the DICTU building (ICT implementation department) in The Hague. She will focus on community and professionalisation. We look forward to her sharp eye on the organisation and programme.

 

From September, Daphne Verberg and Ellen de Haan will act together as the co-directors. Daphne succeeds Karina Bakx who co-founded het resort with Ellen in 2018.

 

Daphne: "It is a dream for me to run an organisation that serves and connects both artists and art audiences. By organising residencies, the resort succeeds in enabling artists and co-creators to realise ambitious and surprising projects in a wide range of locations. I look forward to contributing direction to this. I consider strengthening the position of (starting) artists and workers in the art world as a task for the entire sector and it seems like a great assignment to work on this at het resort. I look forward to thinking together with Ellen about the next steps for an organisation that is in full development."

 

Daphne Verberg (1993) studied art education at ArtEZ and obtained a Master's degree in Art History: Curatorial Studies from the University of Groningen. For the past five years, she produced Nest's multifaceted programme in The Hague. She has also worked for various organisations and institutions, including the Fries Museum, the Mondriaan Fund, the Royal Academy of Art and CBK Groningen (now Kunstpunt). Verberg lives in The Hague and works as a freelance curator and producer.
