In a series of lessons het resort brought the Off Course ‘my first initiative’. A program for new initiatives and collectives.
With a step-by-step program we tried to guide 14 students through the labyrinth of slippery slopes, pointing out the sophisms and the stepping stones that mark the fragile process of setting up and running your own initiative.
On 18 June, they presented their initiatives in the resort.
The program focused on the different facets of starting an initiative and adressed them in four themes:
- Artistic content
- Business structure
- Presenting and curating
- Organizing and producing
We asked several artists and initiatives as guest teachers to tell the students about their experiences.
Teddys Last Ride, Homescreen, Moshpit of Creation: about their initiative and how they started
Soft Landings: a online fieldtrip about gifting. Two off-course classes were combined to learn more about gifting, got paired and had to make presents for each other.
Lemonade Consulting: two lessons about business structures, taxes and other financial topics.
Megan de Vos: on how they run an artist collective Knetterijs, her own illustration practice and how she sells her illustrations online/offline
